Abstract

The 2007-09 Operating Budget (SHB 1128) directed JLARC to conduct an analysis of the qualifications required to become a social worker within the DSHS Children's Administration and compare those qualifications with the qualifications required for equivalent positions in other states. The study provides information about research related to child welfare worker qualifications, describes the qualifications required to become a social worker within DSHS, contains information about the experience and educational attainment of current Children’s Administration social workers, and compares Washington’s social worker requirements to those used by other states for similar categories of social workers and to national standards.
