Internet - Links - Campaign Use of Public Resources
|
|
Issue/Question |
May a legislator-candidate create a hyperlink from his or her campaign web site to materials prepared at public expense that are found on legislative web sites? |
| Summary |
In reconciling two competing public policies, (1) liberal access to public records and (2) the prohibition against the use of public resources for campaign purposes, the Board concluded a single link was appropriate. After June 30 in an election year certain discretionary materials on the legislative web site must be removed. RCW 42.52.180. |
