Conflict of Interest - Special Privileges

Respondent William Eickmeyer
Question/Complaint Complaint alleged a legislator had conflicts of interest between his legislative role and his private employment.  Complaint further alleged the legislator used his legislative office to secure special privileges for himself, his employer, and his lobbyist-son.
Summary Board determined the Respondent did not have a conflict of interest when he showed support for a bill which, if passed, would arguably benefit his employer as well as other employers.  No evidence discovered to support claim of special privilege conferred on self, employer or son.  Complaint dismissed for lack of reasonable cause.  RCW 42.52.020 and RCW 42.52.070
