Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee

PLANNED REPORTS FOR THE 2023-25 BIENNIUM

The Legislature and the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) assign studies to JLARC staff.

Study process has three phases

  1. Initial research: JLARC staff do general research, talk to the responsible agency and others who have relevant knowledge or expertise, and assess the potential for racial equity impacts (RCW 44.28.076). This phase ends with a list of study questions. The study questions define the scope of the audit based on the study mandate.
  2. Field work: JLARC staff collect, document, and analyze the information needed to answer the study questions. We do this work according to government performance audit standards. This is the longest part of the study process.
  3. Report issued: JLARC staff present a preliminary report with findings and recommendations. Next, we present the proposed final report, which includes comments from the responsible agency and no other changes. The Committee may vote to include an addenda to the report. It then votes whether to distribute the completed report. View all JLARC reports.
